Dane McDonald gets gunged for Charity (opposite) Sheffield Eagles launched their 2012 season with a family Carnival Day at Don Valley Stadium on Sunday last. The day proved to be a huge success with bouncy castles, rodeo bulls, sumo suits, a strongman competition and gunge tank keeping the crowd entertained before the game. Dave Benson-Phillips of Kids Get Their Own Back fame was also in attendance to keep the crowd entertained while the gunges suffered! The Eagles also achieved a record attendance for Don Valley stadium which has not been seen since the days of Super League back in 1998. This bodes extremely well for the future and shows that Sheffield Eagles are well and truly on the road to taking their place back amongst the giants of Super League. The sun and fun on the day ensured that the crowds had their fill of pre-game entertainment and the on-field display did not disappoint. The Eagles recorded a 56-22 victory over Swinton Lions to start the season with a bang. The 2012 season is shaping up to be one of the most memorable in the clubs history so tell your friends that Sheffield Eagles are not only the best value for money in town, with our Kids free season ticket offer, but also the best entertainment in town!
