Brown Signs New Deal

The Eagles have secured their half-back partnership for next season with a new one-year deal for Simon Brown. Brown will line up with Dominic Brambani who has re-joined the Eagles from Dewsbury Rams.

Coach Mark Aston is sure it’s an ideal match bringing together players with impressive kicking games.

“Teams will know that we are not just a one-kicker team,” he said. “We have two good players who both have great kicking games. I’m delighted Simon has committed to the club. I’ve not met too many people – except possibly Dom Brambani – who can kick a ball like Simon.”

Former Leeds Rhinos Academy player Brown joined the Eagles from Doncaster on the signing deadline in 2010. The Eagles’ main goal-kickers he has played 36 games scoring 273 points – all but six from the boot.

Aston wants Brown, 22, to develop other aspects of his game and believes that the partnership with the more experienced Brambani will help.

“We want him to go to the line bit more, stay within the structures – that’s part of maturing and developing,” said Aston.

“Dominic was able to develop when he was here with Brendon Lindsay. Dominic has developed as an individual and is that bit more mature and that will hopefully rub off on Simon. It is a long journey, about gaining the experience that only comes with playing.”
