EX-EAGLES WORRINCY’S WARNING
HALIFAX winger Rob Worrincy has sent out a warning to the
Eagles as he prepares to face the his former club.
The teams clash in the Co-operative Championship play-off
second round knockout game at Bramall Lane on Sunday, kick-off 3pm.
Fax won the Grand Final last year but finished the
regular season as the lowest ranked team in the play-offs.
That doesn’t worry Worrincy who says Fax showed their
form in a 32-22 win at Batley in the first round.
He said: “The team spirit is really good and we’ve got
our form right at the best possible time
“We had a great win against Batley. We hadn’t beaten them
all season so it was very satisfying to finally get a victory over them in such
an important game as well.
“We had a disastrous start to this season, we lost some
good players in key positions and we took some time to gel so we didn’t hit the
ground running like we would have liked but we’ve got another chance to get
through to the final now and we need to take it.”
Worrincy was in the Fax team beat the Eagles 42-16 in the
play-off semi-finals last season.
“Sheffield will be another bruising encounter,” he said.
“There’s a lot of history between the two teams because we knocked them out at
the semi-final stage last season and there’s also a lot of ex-players on both
sides of the pitch.
“I have no doubt that former Sheffield lads like myself
will get a hostile reception but hopefully we’ll let our performance do the
talking. When we play to our best I think every other team knows that we’re a
tough side to beat.”
