IF the Challenge Cup Final between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors ends in a draw the replay will be played at Bramall Lane, the RFL has announced.

Sheffield United’s Stadium – where the Eagles play many of their home games – was also the designated venue if a replay was needed last season.

The Super League giants meet at Wembley on Saturday (27 August) with the game being shown live on BBC TV kick-off 2.30pm.

John Kear, the Eagles' coach when they beat Wigan in the 1998 final at the old Wembley, will be part of the commentary team.

Coverage is on BBC One, 2.15pm – 5.10pm. Red button viewers can watch a pre-match warm up programme from 1.30pm – 2.15pm.

Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins has been named as odds-on-favourite to win the prestigious Lance Todd Trophy as man of the match in the final.

Tomkins is priced at 9/4 to win the accolade for the outstanding individual performance in the final making him one of the shortest-priced players ever for the award.

A final has gone to a replay only three times in 113 years – the last time in 1988 when Leeds and Widnes drew 14-14 after 80 minutes and Leeds won the relay at Elland Road 18-9.

If a replay is needed this year it will be at the Lane on Wednesday 7 September, kick-off 7.30pm
