Sheffield Eagles will play our first game of the 2012 season in Bramall lane this Thursday night at 7:30pm against once of their most fierce rivals; Halifax. The game will be Live on Premier Sports and will also feature a Varsity Cup game at half time between the cities two universities; University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. Mens Rugby League, Mens Rugby Union, and Womens Rugby will compete in three 7 a-side games of touch rugby at half time, while the Cheerleaders will compete in advance of the game. This is the start of what will be a great relationship with the universities, who have both undertaken to sell tickets for the Eagles games for the remainder of the season. Mark Aston, Head Coach and CEO of Sheffield Eagles said of the event, ‘We are delighted to be working closely with both universities, and are excited to see the relationship grow in the future’. Student tickets for the game are £5, and are available from both the University of Sheffield Box Office and the Sheffield Hallam University HUBS. All regular ticket prices remain the same and are available both in advance and on the night. There will also be a special performance on the night from Sky One’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ winner Matthew Hewitt. Matthew is a Sheffield native and Sheffield Eagles fan who won the Sky One show on the 18th of March and in the process won £25,000!! He will perform two songs on the night to get the crowd going. The first being ‘At Last’ by Etta James followed by Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed, sealed, delivered’. |
