EAGLES have added to their cover in the backs with the signing of centre Nev Morrison who was on loan at Doncaster for much of last season. Coach Mark Aston says he has been tracking Morrison for some time and moved after the players was released by Hull FC where he was part of the Super League club’s Academy squad. “We tried to get him last year on loan but Hull pulled him back at the last minute and then he went out to Doncaster which was good for him as he got games in Championship One,” said Aston. “He’s a good kid, strong quick and can play centre or wing. He’s only around 21 and could develop into a quality player in the Championship.” Morrison scored seven tries in 14 games for Doncaster last season. He has been given a year’s contract and will face tough competition for a place in the centres at the Eagles. Aston has the option of new signings Scott Turner from Dewsbury Rams and Duane Straugheir from York City Knights plus Menzie Yere and Corey Hanson. Aston added: “We have plenty of cover in the centres and I’m delighted that we have made the signings because we were a bit thin in that role last season. We need competition for places.” (JC |
