Eagles are one game away from their first appearance in a Co-operative Championship Grand Final. An eight-try hammering of 2010 winners Halifax earned the Eagles a trip to Leigh Centurions for the elimination semi-final. The game will be played at Leigh Sports Village on Thursday 22 September, kick-off 7.30pm. The game is Leigh’s second chance to make the final after they lost the first qualifying semi at 35-20 at Featherstone Rovers last week. Eagles had the game with Halifax effectively won when they led 20-6 after 20 minutes at Bramall Lane on Sunday. Simon Brown gave the Eagles an early lead with penalty – one of nine goals he was to kick. Fax came back with a try from Jim Gannon but tries from Quentin Laulu-Togagae, Joe Hirst, Andrew Henderson and Dane McDonald built up a big lead by half-time. Sean
Penkywicz gave Fax brief hope with a try soon after the restart but second tries
for McDonald and Henderson plus touch downs from Misi Taulapapa and Jonny
Woodcock gave the Eagles a 50-22
win.
