Taulapapa Moving On Sheffield Eagles will bid farewell to Misi Taulapapa at the end of the 2011 season, who will be moving on to Super League club Hull KR. He has been a talisman and standout performer since arriving at the Eagles and will be sorely missed by all at the club. Having made his name in the NRL in Australia playing with the New Zealand Warriors and the Cronulla Sharks, he made the change to sunny England in the 2010 season, making an immediate impact. He was ever present in Eagles side on their march to the Semi-finals last year, scoring a memorable hat-trick in the final league game against Leigh which guaranteed play-off rugby. As a reflection on the impact he had made on the Eagles fans and management in 2010, Misi picked up a hat-trick of awards at the club awards evening. He won the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Chairman’s Champagne moment awards, and has continued to be an influential member of the Eagles squad in the 2011 season after recovering from a fractured left ankle in a play-off game against Leigh Centurions late last year. Mark Aston has been amongst members of the club to express his thanks to Misi for his time at the Eagles, saying that he has been 'a true champion' since arriving at the club. Aston also commented; 'Misi has been one of the best overseas signings Sheffield Eagles have ever made. His attitude on the field and towards the fans and club staff off the field has been outstanding'. Misi has also expressed his happiness in his time spent at Sheffield Eagles, saying, 'I am truly going to miss Sheffield who have done a lot for me. The club, the management and the players have been a great source of support over the past two years. I have learned a lot in my time at Sheffield and will treasure the memories'. |
