Wheeldon signs two-year deal with Eagles

Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce the signing of Scott Wheeldon from Featherstone Rovers.

Wheeldon returns to the club on a two-year deal after he donned the Red and Gold during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

The prop forward moved to Featherstone Rovers from South Yorkshire but has now returned for another stint in the Steel City.

“I am happy to be back,” he said.

“I enjoyed my time with the Eagles when I was here before.

“Obviously I’ve spent a couple of years elsewhere then there was an opportunity to come back.

“I spoke to Tubbs, he likes me as a player and a person so I’m more than happy to come on board.”

With the forward becoming one of the more experienced players in the camp, he is delighted to have the confidence from Aston who has signed him up until 2021.

Wheeldon added: “He has put a bit of trust in me with the age that I am at,”

“He has seen videos of me playing and when he spoke to me, he says I’ve not got much slower!

“It’s nice he’s put that trust into me and I’ll be looking to repay that on the field.”

On the return of Wheeldon, Eagles GM Liam Claffey added: “It’s great we’ve been able to bring Scott back to the club,”

“He was brilliant during his spell with us in 2016 & 2017 and will be invaluable to our forward pack.
“We missed the experience of Captain Matt James after his season ending injury at the Summer Bash earlier this year.
“Other players stood up during his absence including those on dual-registration but Wheeldon is a fantastic addition.”

You can watch Scott tearing it up in the middle at the OLP with a Season Membership!
