Eagles attend Civic Reception to celebrate 1895 Cup success
The Eagles attended a Civic Reception at Sheffield Town Hall on Tuesday (17 September) evening to mark the club’s victory in the 1895 Cup Final.
Lord Mayor Tony Downing & Lady Mayoress Val Downing welcomed players, staff, sponsors and their guests to celebrate the 36-18 victory over Widnes Vikings in the inaugural final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 24 August.
The Lord Mayor gave a speech to all attendees followed by speeches from Eagles Chairman Chris Noble MBE and Head Coach Mark Aston.
Eagles General Manager Liam Claffey said, “We’d like to thank the Lord Mayor for opening the Town Hall doors and welcoming the club following the 1895 Cup success.”
“It was a fantastic occasion at Wembley and it great to bring the silverware back to the city once again and show this to the Lord Mayor & Lady Mayoress along with a number of City Councillors present.
“Big thanks go to Uriah Rennie for helping to arrange the evening.”
