Taylor heads to Coventry on loan

Sheffield Eagles can confirm forward Lewis Taylor has joined Betfred League One side Coventry Bears on a one month’s loan.

The loan begins with immediately and will provide the young ex-England Students international with much needed game time to aid his development.

Speaking of the move, Eagles Head Coach Mark Aston said, "Lewis has progressed well so far during his time here but he still requires some growth and this move facilitates that.

"He's an athlete and performed well during his brief spell against Leigh during the Challenge Cup however he isn't quite ready for week in, week out rugby at this level yet.

"We are sure he will be an asset for Coventry and thank Alan and Tom for this assistance with the move."

Coventry Head Coach Tom Tsang added: "Many thanks to Mark Aston and Sheffield for facilitating this loan. Lewis is a player who has been on our radar for a while now as he was a stand out for England Student RL while he was studying at Loughborough University and also Hemel Stags when they were playing in League 1.

"He is a tall, powerful prop who has had a couple of seasons playing at pro level now and his time with the Eagles so far will have really helped him progress.

"We were looking to strengthen our front row stocks as we have had a few injuries in that position, so we can probably offer him more game time than he would have had at Sheffield, which is what he needs to keep developing.

He already knows a few of our squad from his time in the student game, so I am confident he will slot in quickly."
