Pick: We have got to finish on a high for the fans

Ahead of the final game of the year against Rochdale Hornets, Sheffield Eagles forward Shaun Pick says it’s important to finish the season on a good note for the fans.

Pick has been a rock in the Eagles pack during his debut term and he has become a big hit with the fans, typified by being named Supporters Player of the Year at the annual awards presentation.

Having hardly missed a game in 2018, Pick says it has been great to get so much game time despite the inconsistent results.

“It has been spot on, really,” he said.

“I have had plenty of rugby and I have been enjoying it.

“We have had a good set of lads in 2018 and they have been a pleasure to play with all year.

“It has been hit and miss with some of our performances.

“We have been unlucky sometimes but we obviously aren’t where we want to be but there are positives to take moving forward.”

Moving on to the Hornets clash, Pick knows the importance of not underestimating any team and especially one that has a lot to gain and a lot to lose – such as Rochdale.

“You can’t write off anyone in this league,” he added.

“You need to turn up and play your best every week.

“I am looking forward to it and hopefully we can finish on a high for the fans.”

When asked about the club’s recruitment for the 2019 season, Pick is confident that the Eagles can right the wrongs that have been made in the current campaign.

“We have recruited quite well from some of the names I have heard and hopefully we should gel better than what we have this season.”

You can see whether Pick and his fellow teammates can claim victory in the final game of the year at the OLP this Sunday.

The Eagles have slashed ticket prices for this game, with adults and concessions gaining entry for just £5 while under-16s go free!
