EIS at Olympic Legacy Park to host prestigious Sheffield awards night
It has been announced today that Sheffield's Celebration of Sport Awards will be hosted at the English Insitute of Sport, at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, on October 4th.
Nominations are now open for seven different categories and the awards ceremony will be attended by the city's competitiors from the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
The award categories are as follows..
- Senior Sports Performer 2018
- Disabled Sports performer 2018
- Young Sports Performer 2018
- Community Amateur Sports Club 2018
- Community Sport Volunteer 2018
- MOVE MORE Power of Sport Award 2018
- Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity in Education 2018

Nominations must be made by July 2, with successful nominees in all categories being decided by an expert judging panel.
Those who are shortlisted will receive a formal invitation to the event, taking place on Thursday October 4.
Richard Caborn, former Minister for Sport and now Project Lead for Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, said: “With such a successful Celebration of Sport in 2016, this event represents another opportunity to welcome Sheffield’s sporting talent on a variety of levels and honour their dedication and hard work.
“The enjoyment of sport is for everyone, and such an event not only allows Sheffield to celebrate its sporting achievements, but also acts as a powerful agent to motivate and galvanise those already involved in sport and those who want to get involved in sport in the community”.
