Nabil Djalout joins the Eagles

Sheffield Eagles can confirm the signing of Nabil Djalout on a one year deal.

Djalout, 28, joins the Eagles following a trial with recently promoted Super League side Hull Kingston Rovers where he featured in friendlies against Hull FC & York City Knights.

The 5ft 9in Frenchmen was offered a deal with Catalan Dragons but knocked this back, looking to develop his game in the UK.

He joins fellow countryman Maxime Garcia who is currently on trial with Mark Aston's side.

Beginning his career at St. Esteve he then went onto Pia, Lezignan and Palua. He then returned to Esteve where he was picked up by the Dragons.

He played for the Dragons in 2017, appearing in their 56-12 home defeat to Huddersfield Giants and went on to feature for France in the World Cup to their defeats to Lebanon & England in the group stages.

Weighing in at 14st 7lb, Djalout primarily plays in the second-row position but he featured for France at centre, offering Mark Aston options in both positions.

Speaking of the capture, Aston said, “I’m pleased we’ve been able to bring Nabil into the squad. He’s a competitor, he’s tough, aggressive and dynamic.

“He’s only had one session with us, but he understands the game well and ran some very good lines.

“At 28 he might seem a bit of a late bloomer but he’s been in a good system at Catalan and caught the eye of Hull KR so he’s a high quality player.

“He turned down a good deal with the Dragons as he wants a crack in England and as he can provide options in the back row and centre, he will be a valuable asset to us.
