Joshua Toole joins Eagles for 2018
Sheffield Eagles can confirm the signing of Joshua Toole on a one year deal.
Toole, 28 becomes the club’s seventh new signing ahead of the 2018 season and joins from Australian side Pritchard Mounties.
The centre or second rower has also previously played for Illawarra Cutters, a feeder club for NRL side St George Ilawarra Dragons.
Toole holds an Irish passport so the club will not face any visa issues and he is due to arrive in the UK later this month.
Eagles Head Coach Mark Aston knows Toole well, having played under him with Ireland in the 2012 & 2014 European Cups and the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
He has played six times for Ireland, including an appearance against Australia, in Limerick during the 2013 World Cup.
Speaking of joining the club, Toole said, “I’m really excited about getting over to the UK and moving to Sheffield.
“I’ve heard some pretty good things about the club and I’m looking forward to ripping into pre-season, meeting the boys and getting started with this new challenge.
“I’ve worked with Tubbs (Mark Aston) before and it will be good to link up with him again at the Eagles.”
Mark Aston added, “I’m pleased we’ve managed to bring Josh into the squad. He’s a good, talented kid and will certainly add to us next season.
“He’s a utility player and played at both centre and second row for me with Ireland so we’ll keep a close eye on him during pre-season and our friendlies in January to see where his best starting position will be.”
