Eagles make Macani third new signing ahead of 2018
Sheffield Eagles are pleased to announce the signing of Iliess Macani on a one-year deal from Bradford Bulls.
The Bulls were relegated from the Championship in 2017 and Macani will join up with the Eagles when they return to training tomorrow (Tuesday 7th November).
Macani, 23, came up through the London Broncos system, making his Super League debut against St Helens in 2013 which also saw his first try in the professional game.
Playing under former Eagle Andrew Henderson, he developed his game playing primarily at winger and full-back but can also play in the centre, providing flexibility in the squad.
During his year at Bradford Macani played in 22 games scoring 10 tries. He played twice against the Eagles in 2017, both at the Beaumont Legal Stadium with the latter Championship Shield game in which he scored a try in the Bulls 32 – 18 win over the Eagles.
Known for his dangerous pace, Macani will be one to watch in 2018 and Eagles fans will hope his scoring ability continues at the Olympic Legacy Park.
Speaking of the signing, Eagles Assistant Coach Keith Senior said, “We are pleased to bring Iliess into the squad.
“He is a valuable addition to us in what will be a very difficult competition in 2018. We are continuing to work on finalising our squad and will be confirming more signings over the coming days and weeks.”
The latest player to re-sign for the Eagles will be unveiled tomorrow morning at 7.30am, right here on sheffieldeagles.com
