Eagles to benefit from concessions at the Olympic Legacy Park
Sheffield Eagles can expect an extra financial boost next season as plans to have their new home ready for the start of next season continue at pace.
Eagles confirmed their return to the Steel City where they will take residence in the Olympic Legacy Park, but face a busy off season as they attempt to have the site in line with RFL requirements for the 2018 season.
Whilst they wait for landlords Scarborough Group to develop the site, the Eagles have been granted permission to build temporary seating to allow them to move in time for next season.
And the club have been given a further boost by confirming that they will benefit from all matchday takings – income which they have been denied during their time in exile.
“It is fantastic that we will be back in the city and after four years we finally have a permanent home,” general manager Liam Claffey said.
“For the next year it will be a temporary set-up and that will mean it will be very similar to what we had at Bawtry Road, but for the first time in the club’s history we will be able to benefit from matchday food and drink revenue streams.”
“We would urge supporters next year to come down early and enjoy the facilities that we will have on offer.
"We are speaking to various breweries and other companies at the moment, to try and ensure that we make the fan experience as good as we possibly can.
"There is a lot of work to do. We have meetings with the OLP, who have been great, to tie up matters like where the temporary stand will go, where the scoreboard will go, toilets etc.
"The OLP have generously agreed to give us the car park on site for free, so that is also a potential to make revenue.”
