Menzie Yere celebrates 250 games for Sheffield Eagles
Eagles No.3 Menzie Yere played his 250th game for Sheffield Eagles in the club’s 42-12 victory away at Rochdale Hornets on Good Friday.
Club Statistician Nigel Borham has put together some information to celebrate this impressive milestone:
Menzie has played 250 games out of a possible 267 (injury, suspension etc. ruling him out of the others).
He has scored 182 tries for the club, his latest in Monday’s victory over Dewsbury where he opened the scoring and was given a guard of honour by his fellow players as he entered the field.
In 12 matches he has scored three or more tries, 30 appearances when he has scored twice and 80 matches when he has scored on try. He has not scored in 128 games.
Of the 250 games, 152 of those have resulted in a victory for the Eagles with three being a draw.
He is the club’s leading record try scorer and holds the record for most tries scored in a season, crossing the line 46 times in 2013.
Only seven players have played more games for Sheffield Eagles than Menzie and he looks likely to surpass Mick Cook’s 259 appearances very soon.
The ‘Jukebox’ is a firmly a fans favourite since he joined the club after the 2008 World Cup and everyone at Sheffield Eagles would like to congratulate him on this achievement.
